Revd Jenny Corcoran
After working for a couple of years as tutor in practical theology at St John's with particular oversight of the worshipping life of the college as well as the spirituality programme, Jenny Corcoran has been appointed as senior tutor in distance learning. She is currently in the middle of her PhD looking at issues of liturgical adaptation and fresh expressions of church. Her thesis explores a potential contribution to this discussion that presents a pattern of community continuity and adaptation drawn from a liturgical reading of Deuteronomy. Her research demonstrates her passion for encouraging students to engage with the interface between the Old Testament and questions of practice.
Jenny spent a couple of years working as a youth and children's worker for a church in Buckinghamshire before training for ordination at St John's where she met her husband, who is currently working in a local parish as a pioneer minister with children and young people. She served her curacy locally at Christ Church, Chilwell, and then moved to St Barnabas, Lenton Abbey at the same time as returning to St John's to begin her research degree. Jenny stepped down from St Barnabas having taken up a teaching role at St John's, and is now Associate Priest at Holy Trinity and the Priory Church, Lenton. Jenny enjoys being in the countryside, good books, playing the piano, and the occasional single malt.
