Revd Dr John Tomlinson
John Tomlinson is a priest in the Church of England who has ministered in a range of settings, including the rural church, suburbia, inner city and chaplaincy. After being brought up as a Methodist, John feels at home in the Liberal Catholic tradition of Anglicanism, with its emphases on good liturgy and outreach. His postgraduate studies at Manchester University were in Social and Pastoral Theology and his doctorate from Birmingham University is on the historical and theological development of parish ministry. Most recently he has specialised in the study of fundamentalism and religious violence. A childhood of oversees experiences, including northern Nigeria and New Zealand, has given him a taste for pilgrimages and study tours, and an appreciation of the World church. With two children now at university, John finds himself much freer to indulge in art, singing and the lifelong ambition to own a boat.
