Revd Dr Sally Nash

Revd Dr Sally Nash joined the staff in 1998 as Director of Midlands CYM having been released by Youth for Christ to take up this post.  Sally's background with Youth for Christ was in training and supporting youth workers and this was the focus for her doctoral studies.  Sally was part of the group that founded the Centre for Youth Ministry  (now the Institute for Children, Youth and Mission) and is part of the national CYM Executive Team as well as St John’s Directorate.

Sally has over twenty five years involvement in urban priority area and inner city churches in both youth work and now as a self-supporting Curate at Hodge Hill Church in Birmingham (a Local Ecumenical Project and outer estates parish) where she takes a lead on adult discipleship and a spiritual companions programme.  She is involved in team building sessions for Readers and Clergy for the Diocese of Birmingham and has been part of the Youth Adviser’s Support Team.  Sally was involved in writing modules for Common Awards as part of the Ministry Group.  She is a Director of Frontier Youth Trust, a member of the Editorial Groups for the Grove Youth and Leadership series and is a Companion of the Northumbria Community.

Sally's publications include Skills for Collaborative Ministry with colleagues Jo and Paul, Tools for Reflective Ministry with Paul, Youth Ministry: a multifaceted approach (editor) all published by SPCK.  She and Jo have edited Christian Youth Work in Theory and Practice with an international group of authors for SCM.  Sally also co-authored the Faith of Generation Y, a range of Grove Booklets and various peer reviewed journal articles. 
She is currently researching shame in the church as part of her ordination studies and also spiritual care and chaplaincy as part of a research team at Birmingham Children's Hospital where she also designs resources for use in spiritual care and staff support.

She is a qualified Higher Education teacher and research supervisor and has been an external examiner for Masters courses in both Youth and Community Work and Missional Leadership as well as doing some examining at Doctoral level. 

Outside of work Sally enjoys playing golf and has played for the Church of England, supporting Spurs, blogging and walking - preferably by the sea.  Sally and Paul blog at www.markerpostsandshelters.wordpress.com
